Everest Gokyo Ri Standard Trek is a 12 day trek where you will be go to remote gokyo valley which is renowed among many trekkers as a place to see scenic landscape views along the trail . In addition to that along the way you will discover sparkling turquoise lakes, enormous glaciers that look like something from another planet, and unbelievable views of some of the highest mountains in the world. This includes four of the world’s eight tallest peaks: Mount Everest (8,848 m), Mount Lhotse (8,516m), Mount Makalu (8,485 m), and Mount Cho Oyu (8,188 m). Standing on Gokyo Ri, you’ll enjoy a full-circle view that many consider the most breathtaking in the entire Khumbu region, giving you a once-in-a-lifetime look at the Himalayan giants.
The first half of this 12-day Standard trek takes the same path as the famous Everest Base Camp trek. We’ll stay two nights in Namche Bazaar, a lively mountain village where we’ll slowly get used to the high altitude. Namche is the busiest trading hub in the Khumbu, and every Saturday, merchants travel from distant places, even Tibet, to sell their products. The village is built in a curved, theater-like shape, with steep, narrow paths filled with yaks, trekkers, and Sherpa locals—making it a colorful and exciting place to explore.
After spending time in Namche, we’ll leave the main Everest trail and take a quieter path alongside the river that comes from the massive Ngozumpa Glacier. Two days of trekking will bring us to Machhermo, a peaceful village surrounded by stunning mountain views. Here, we’ll rest and, if you’d like, take an extra hike up Machhermo Ri for even more incredible scenery. From Machhermo, we’ll continue toward the hidden treasure of the Himalayas—the Gokyo Valley.
As you step into the Gokyo Valley, the first thing you’ll notice is a string of deep blue lakes, which you’ll walk past during a 3-hour journey to Gokyo Village. This small, remote village sits right below Gokyo Ri (18,300 ft), a tall, rocky hill that stands out against the snowy peaks. The next morning, you’ll have the opportunity to climb to the top of Gokyo Ri—a challenging but rewarding 3-hour hike that offers the most spectacular mountain views you can imagine.
From the summit of Gokyo Ri, the mountains rise like giant walls along the border of Tibet. While Everest is the most famous, you’ll also see multiple other peaks over 8,000 meters tall, making this one of the most impressive mountain views anywhere in the world.
