Climbing Mera Peak is a memorable adventure for all climbers. Standing at 6,476 meters, Mera Peak is one of Nepal’s most famous trekking peaks, offering 360-degree panoramic views of five mountains over 8,000 meters: Mount Everest (8,848m), Kangchenjunga (8,586m), Lhotse (8,516m), Makalu (8,485m), and Cho Oyu (8,201m), as well as many other peaks over 6,500 meters. This iconic and delightful expedition takes climbers to the summit of the highest trekking peak in Nepal. Mera Peak, a hidden gem in the Himalayas, has been gaining massive popularity among climbers. It consists of three peaks: Mera South (6,065 meters), Mera North (6,476 meters), and Mera Central (6,461 meters).
Climbing Mera Peak is a significant achievement for adventure seekers, although it is not an easy climb. The mountain is suitable for beginner climbers, but there are a few technical sections along the way. With a climbing grade rated as PD (Peu Difficile), meaning a little technical difficulty and walking on glaciers, Mera Peak leads to the well-hidden Hinku Valley. This valley, in perfect isolation on the remote side of the Khumbu and Everest regions, is enriched with flora and fauna, including dense forests of rhododendron, magnolia, birch, and pine trees. The forest tree lines lead to an arctic zone with ice, glaciers, and moraine. Starting the climb from Mera Peak High Camp at 5,780 meters, with proper rest and acclimatization in Mera Base Camp at 5,300 meters, climbers approach the summit with fewer technical challenges compared to other trekking peaks.
Mera Peak climbs is a favored choice for all climbers. While prior peak climbing experience is not necessary, being mentally and physically fit will enhance the experience. Unique Path offers attractive Mera Peak packages that include a well-structured itinerary at competitive prices, providing a unique and unforgettable adventure.
Mera Peak Climbing is ideal for beginner climbers due to its accessibility and relative ease. It provides an excellent opportunity for beginners to test themselves and delve into their passion for mountaineering. The Mera Peak climbing route begins in the Khumbu region’s serene and beautiful Lukla (2,800 meters), highlighting traditional Sherpa settlements, temples, monasteries, and lush forests. From Lukla, it is a six-day trek with plenty of acclimatization days through pristine forests of rhododendron, oak, silver fir, and birch, past beautiful alpine lakes, and finally up to the foot of Mera Glacier, where base camp is established. Two more high camps are set up, one over 300 meters above base camp on the Mera Glacier, and the second after crossing the Mera crevasse field at 5,800 meters. From here, it is a steady and steep climb to reach the summit.
In the trekking part, climbers stay at lodges and homely teahouses, and in the climbing part, climbers stay at tents.
