Island Peak (6,189 meters / 20,305 feet), also known as Imja Tse, is one of Nepal’s most popular trekking peaks, offering an exhilarating climbing experience combined with stunning views of the Himalayas.

Island Peak Climbing is straightforward with some technical sections at the beginning and near the summit. Our expert guide will make necessary arrangements to ensure the climb is safe and possible. The climbing grade is PD+ as per the French and Swiss alpine system. On this Island Peak journey, marvel at the scenery from Mt. Island Peak Expedition offers not only the summit of the magnificent Island Peak but also trekking in the coveted Everest region. The Island Peak trekking and climbing routes lead through many traditional Sherpa villages, famous for their mountaineering skills and warm hospitality. This remarkable trek starts from Lukla, the gateway to the Everest area, and moves on to the famous Namche Bazaar at 3,440 meters. After a rest day for proper acclimatization, the journey continues to Imja Tse valley through scenic spots like Tengboche Monastery and Pangboche, finally reaching the world’s highest mountain base camp at 5,364 meters. Climbers then ascend to Kalapathar, the highest point at 5,545 meters. The highlight of this adventure is the climb to the summit of Island Peak at (6,189 meters / 20,305 feet), offering a tremendous panorama of surrounding high snow-capped peaks and valleys. Our expert climbing guide will support climbers all the way to the summit top, and then slowly descend with a scenic walk, concluding this beautiful trek back at Lukla. The gradual ascent up the Khumbu valley allows for excellent acclimatization.

Along the way, climbers pass through picturesque Sherpa villages, ancient monasteries, and lush forests. The route also includes a visit to the famous Everest Base Camp, adding to the thrill of the expedition. Island Peak is considered suitable for climbers of varying skill levels. While it does require some technical climbing, it is achievable for those with basic mountaineering skills and good physical fitness. The climb involves negotiating crevasses, ice walls, and a steep headwall before reaching the summit.
